As we get closer to 1st June, farmers should be thinking about the impact on any employment relationship that exists, due to the pending sale and purchase of farms, or changing sharemilking jobs.
Effectively, such changes can be viewed as restructuring and/or redundancy situations.
Where there is likely to be a detrimental effect for the employee/s, then extreme care must be taken by the current employer to ensure that all legal obligations, as contained in the employment agreement, are met.
Most employment agreements will specify that the employer should always provide the employee with as much information and notice as possible, prior to any new arrangement for the current employer taking effect.
